To the surprise off, I'm guessing no one, Matt Goldberg of Collider.com despised it: http://collider.com/the-legend-of-tarzan-review/

And another one:
. If Burroughs himself had been alive to watch it, he probably wouldn’t recognize anything about his creation. Just like the audience, he’d be wondering what had become of the joy his character had brought to viewers, and why anyone would think this was a proper way to treat him.

Dragged my mother-in-law with me to the 6:50 showing at my local Regal theater and I was thrilled with the size of the crowd. I'd say 3/4 full. The outside sections were filling up. I know this theater and that was really good for a Friday night. I'm feeling really positive right now. I knew it was going to be a good night when I asked the ticket taker how Tarzan was doing. She said I better get my seat before getting your popcorn. The crowd seemed to enjoy it. There was a smattering of applause at the end. Oh, by the way, my mother-in-law loved LOT.

Saw it again tonight in the same theater as Friday night. The crowd was slightly smaller than Friday but still an okay showing for a Sunday holiday evening around here.

This is a pretty good review, although I find the title deceiving. This reviewer also shares his surprise at some the negativity of the other reviews.
Also, I saw it for a 3rd time last to about a 3/4 full theater. Took my sister and 2 nieces. My sister loved it and it's not really her kind of movie. She jumped out of her seat several times so excited. My nieces enjoyed it, too, although not to the level of my sister and I. Lastly, there was nice applause at the end.

Update to my previous post on theaters screens available to LOT in Columbus,Ohio. Well, once the movie opened on June 30, a whole different shedule of theaters and screens appeared on Fandango. LOT occupies both IMAX screens and Dory has the RDX screen. Also there is a full array of 3D screens at every theater with some theaters having the 3D on two or more screes. The times for the showing are normal going from am showings to later pm showings. I am not sure why the selections were so limited with advance ticket sales prior to the Thurs. June 30 preview showings.
I did did note this morning that now that LOT has had a surprise opening that literally has told the prognosticators and reviewers to shove it, the trade journalists including WSJ are now harping on the budget and stressing pig that just because LOL did better than expected it doesn't mean it will be successful and their take, of course, is that it won't be successful. They are relentless in their insistence that this film fail.
